ASTYM Treatment

What is ASTYM treatment?
ASTYM treatment is the regenerative medicine of physical therapy. Physical activity and exercise are integrated with instrument assisted manual therapy to facilitate recovery from a variety of injuries.

Research conducted at leading universities and hospital systems has helped create an effective therapy treatment that resolves tendinopathies, scar tissue problems and other soft tissue dysfunctions. ASTYM treatment has helped many people by restoring their movement, getting rid of their pain and allowing them to get back to their normal lives.

What you can expect
First, an ASTYM provider will conduct a thorough evaluation. They will use instruments to initiate a regenerative process that encourages the reabsorption of scar tissue and the regeneration of damaged soft tissue.

Then it’s up to you to guide how your body heals. Your therapist will give you a customized stretching and strengthening program designed to encourage your body to maximize the strength and agility of soft tissue. Stretching aligns the new fibers and strengthening makes them stronger. During ASTYM treatment you are typically encouraged to continue most normal activities.

A typical course of treatment lasts four to eight weeks.

Why use ASTYM treatment?
The ASTYM process stimulates the body to regenerate and remodel tissues. ASTYM treatment can be successful when other forms of treatment have failed.
